Bias tap for Post-PI Cathode Follower - dropping the voltage

Post by ATL Strat »

I'm playing around with Post-PI Cathode Followers and I noticed that HAD connects into one of the Twin Reverb PT's high voltage taps in order to create his negative bias tap. When I do this, I get approx -285v, which is way too high for the 12BH7 setup that I'm working with. I would like to take the -285v down to around -150v. Given that this setup draws some current (100ma or so), what would be the preferred method to drop the voltage. Would you go with a large resistor or is there another method for dropping the voltage that would work out better?

drop down 135v is a hard work , maybe with a zener diode , but I'm not sure! wait other suggestion!

Yeah, I agree. I'm wondering if a MOSFET based VVR/Powerscaling type circuit would be the best way to go.

resistors works on many marshalls and fenders. but the circuit is different
