Re: And then there's this....
Very nice amp. Judging from the chassis construction, is it possible that this amp is aimed at a lower price point than the standard ODS?
The only reason I built a D clone was because I couldn't afford a Fuchs ODS. The sounds in the demo video on youtube with the LP Firebrand (?) were captivating.

Re: And then there's this....
The amp is built on the same chassis exact platform as an original ODS. It is just a taller front and rear panel on the same pan. A new main board and a new PC board for the bias adjustment and test station.
Not sure what you mean by it's construction somehow indicating it would be at a lower price point. The 50-W is approx 4-K and the 100-W is about $ 4200 map. Slightly more than the current ODS at the same power level. In terms of tone, flexibility and reliability it would confidently put it against similarly priced models by the other builders out there.
There will be an a new two channel Fuchs amp line somewhere between the $ 2500 top end of the Casino line and these amps later this year.

Re: And then there's this....
I assumed that the ODS had a full pan chassis with the sides/rear/front at the same height, the pics of the new amp (with the PCBs on display) look like it might have had a less expensive chassis for cost cutting. I did not mean to imply that the amp looked cheap, my apologies if it came across like that. I know all your gear is absolutely top notch.FUCHSAUDIO wrote:The amp is built on the same chassis exact platform as an original ODS. It is just a taller front and rear panel on the same pan. Re: And then there's this....
No offense taken (now that I understand the comment)
The ODS is exactly the same, just shorter. I built and shipped two 100-W samples across the US and they survived and did not bend. I am considering adding side panels, although I'm not sure I need it. There is ample room inside so I won't need the side walls to mount anything. Since the aluminum is effectively doubled along front and rear edges, we never had issues with horizontal bends. Early units (with thinner metal) sometime bent along the power transformer edge, so we raised the metal thickness which fixed it.
Thanks for the kind words kids...

very, very nice work - I love the chassis setup, makes good sense to me. Best of luck with it Andy!
