Use the grounding that's on the layouts and schematics in the files section for the ODS amps.
the ceriatone layouts are the sameas they were taken from this forum so your chassis will be drilled ready for your grounding points if it a Ceriatone kit.

The pre-populated boards I received from Marsh Amps are for the ODS 70s Skyliner. Does that relate to a particular ODS model#?

Re: New Build: Ceriatone Replica OTS 50W
In the schematic posted above it points out the 5 main grounding points. I think that it is likely those are the best for ensuring no ground loops happen, but I've not yet built a Dumble (one of my very next builds here soon). In my 8 amps total (one not yet done) I've had a few issues with grounding and have found I like the idea of the Power tubes grounding very close to the power transformer, the PI somewhere a little bit further away, and the preamp side near the inputs, so that you've got a lot of distance for the higher output stuff to travel to create feedback loops. On the other hand, I know many people swear by the single point type or star grounds as well. Merlin has a great section on grounding in his preamp book, and on the site: http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/Grounding.html (it's actually the whole chapter).

I think you mean 80's Skyliner as a base line voicing. I personally equate 70's topology as a minimal; 100K plates, the funky OD network, classic tone stack and the Fender AT7 PI.

DItto, no need to reinvent the wheel.......stare and compare is all that is required!norburybrook wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 2:23 pm Use the grounding that's on the layouts and schematics in the files section for the ODS amps.

I have asked Marsh amps to describe what he provided but that was the description he gave when I purchased them.
Re: New Build: Ceriatone Replica OTS 50W
My confusion is does it matter which version I stare at #102, #124, #183 especially for the grounding scheme?ToneMerc wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 9:01 pmDItto, no need to reinvent the wheel.......stare and compare is all that is required!norburybrook wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 2:23 pm Use the grounding that's on the layouts and schematics in the files section for the ODS amps.

Re: New Build: Ceriatone Replica OTS 50W
exactly
I've built a few ODS now and grounding is fine. The only issue I ever had with grounding was when I used an anodised chassis that didn't ground through the speaker jack sockets/chassis. I ran a separate ground to solve that.
the 50w Bluesmaster I've just built is whisper quiet and it's 1: not very neat and 2: has transformers mounted in non standard places.
just grab a #102,124,183 layout and follow the grounding

For reference, a " 2nd generation" aka 70's amp. If you have made changes, I guess you need to document what you actually built.dwietzel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:46 pmI have asked Marsh amps to describe what he provided but that was the description he gave when I purchased them.

This thread gives you feeling for the evolution of the ODS voicings.dwietzel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:46 pmI have asked Marsh amps to describe what he provided but that was the description he gave when I purchased them.

Looks like I need some basic information to see how my build lines up. After reading some of the forums referenced above, it is hard to find some specifics. For example, how do I determine if mine is:
Thanks
Dave
- Pre-standard, standard or HRM OD circuit?
- Pre-classic, classic or skyline tone stack?
- Low plate and high plate?
Thanks

Re: New Build: Ceriatone Replica OTS 50W
with regards to grounding it doesn't matter which version it is.
HRM;has a separate overdrive set of tone controls on a daughter board
low plate/high plate; the low plate has 100k plate resistors the high plate has 150/220
classic/skyliner tone stack; Bass 250k- Middle 100k- Treble 100k skyliner has 500k-250-250 pots
