#102 inspired project completed. Finally.

Post by hellrot »

Hi all, hope you’re well.

I finished my first #102 inspired project. Finally all the components are ready.

I sticked to Tony’s schematic with slight omissions like:

- selfwound transformers
- selfmade chassis out of 1/8" air grade aluminum
- selfmade boards out of NOS 70s material
- selfmade head shell out of spruce lumber core
- speaker cab out of proper mahogany lumber core with 80s EVM12L

I even managed to find NOS Ernie Ball amp handle.

Voltages are:

B+1 455
B+2 454
B+3 434
B+4 329
B+5 321

V1a 194
V1b 195
V2a 198
V2b 206

Oh wow that looks outstanding! Well done! You did the transformer wining yourself? I'd love detail on that.

Yes, it’s a mahogany lumber core. Best material for the speaker cab as mentioned by HAD in one of his interviews.

Thanks, Phil. My friend does the transformers. He looks for old used transformers of appropriate size, then disassembles them, utilizing mainly steel parts and rewinds them using NOS Soviet era wire. It’s copper double insulation (silk and lacquer) wire.

Nothing fancy - mostly standard.
