Re: HRM E-Bay
I like how the guy barely puts more effort into writing up the listing than if he were selling a Blues Junior or something.
Re: HRM E-Bay
Reading this post on the music school where I teach, the cleaning lady refered to the amp as "that garden grill".......
...that's one expensive grill

Re: HRM E-Bay
Or does he even have it.
That description despite the spellling errors is the standard description used on these amps.
There is a known scam on stuff like this.
They sell a bunch of small items to get their feedback going then ask for the monies to be wired. Then you don't get squat.
BTW, how do you know it is an HRM amp?

Heheheheh, I'll take your word for it.
I certainly haven't studied the different iterations of his amps to know by looks what they have and don't have.
Anybody see that Antiques Roadshow episode where this young woman has a vintage sunburst strat and tweed amp?
The best they could come up with for the date was 1959.
The appraiser talked her into pulling the neck off to look for a date.
There was no date......
The original hardshell case was with it too.
Not sure what the amp was but I'm thinking it was a Deluxe.
He appraised the guitar and amp at $12,000......
I personally thought it should have had another zero added on for the matched pair of a 1959 strat and tweed amp.
The strat had some wear on it but overall was in good condition.

Re: HRM E-Bay
As far as I know it was the real deal. It had been listed for over a month, that was the second reduced price listing as the first listing was 52K/57K BIN.
Unlike, the one listed about 2.5 months ago this guy wasn't answering questions from the "chain yankers".

When we first started I had a guy come in with a late 40's Tweed TV Pro..He said he had it recovered in tweed because when he first bought it off this guy for 400 beans it was in this awful white vinyl.. I didn't have the heart to tell him that Fender did maybe 50 amps in the white and the amp was priceless..Not anymore.. DOH!!!Anyway the amp was modded to take the 12ax style instead of the Octals.. I put it all back stock and the thing sounded wonderful!! Original Transformers and speakers.. Those amps are pretty cool to have in the stable!!!

Re: HRM E-Bay
Yeah the things we do when we're ignorant.
When I was a sophomore in high school I bought a 63 Fender Jaguar.
This would have been around 1972.
It was a sunburst finish and was kind of scratched up paint wise.
Well in the mid to late 70's, natural wood looking guitars were in, so I stripped the sunburst and stained the alder with a walnut stain, then sprayed clear Varathane over it.
I still have that guitar although it needs a refret. I plan on restoring it one of these days.
In the meantime I have gotten into building Fender type guitars and have built six so far with lacquer finishes. They all turned out great and it's a lot of fun to build them.
Play that through an amp you built and it is a great feeling for sure.
