Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
They are also already trading on eBay under a different name, and I read on another forum earlier today from someone who works next door that they had 'heavies' guarding their premises today, so they obviously don't want bailiffs and/or creditors getting in.
The London store was selling a Dumble 2x12 cab a year or so ago that was discussed here if I remember correctly. I thought it was worrying then that they might have an interest in all things Dumble.
There are enough experts in Marshalls and Hiwatts to spot those that might, for want of a better expression, be described as having a slightly chequered past, but authenticating a Dumble prior to purchase would certainly tip the odds in their favour.

"Music Ground closes - liquidator to be appointed
Music retail chain shuts in Manchester, Leeds & London
Following several weeks of rumour and speculation, Music Ground, the three-strong retail chain owned by father and son team, Rick and Justin Harrison (who also own the amplifier brand Hi Watt and have several other shops in London's Denmark St) , has closed its doors.
The Manchester Music Ground, in Oxford Rd, was the first to be closed, two weeks ago, while the branches in Call Lane, Leeds and Denmark St, London, were closed this morning. The fate of the Harrisons' other shops - a total of five in London's Denmark St, including such icons as Roka's, Hanks, Andy's and The Bass Cellar, is unclear but it seems likely that following a rearrangement, at least some of these will remain open.
Speaking to MI Pro today, Justin Harrison was unable to discuss the closures but confirmed that a liquidator was in the process of being appointed. Harrison stressed that Hi Watt - a separate business - remains healthy and is still very much in business. He hoped to be in a position to make a statement about the underling reasons for the closures and to reveal future plans in a few weeks.
MI Pro was unable to speak with the liquidator, but can confirm that enquiries should be directed to P & A Partnership, 93, Queen St. Sheffield. 0114 275 5033."

brown pinstripe
These are the guys who had bought a roll of pinstripe about a week before
I could buy it. It was brown and I know who they got it from.
The stuff indeed was vinylaire the original pinstripe people
but it was brown wrong color.
I know of someone that bought a 4 12 from them and to be honest
it looked so great id have bought it too.
The problem was it was sold as original when it was not.
I had found a place with this stuff but all the colors I did not want.
blue red gold ect....
nothing in original grey but i did find the scrim there and was trying to get
a roll of that then I found out price.
I had to hold off then discovered ed collins who reproduces the stuff or has it done and sent in.
I own an original 67 pinstripe top cab and I compared a sample to that
and it was identical.
I was glad I did not have the coin to buy that brown roll as i would have
and lost...
Those guys were stating well it was indeed original nos material
which is not a lie but marshall never used brown to my knowledge.
I could be completely wrong but of all I know or have known
none could verify that and most said no it was not original.
They have been at this awhile.
Someone got pissed it seems.
Sooner or later the general public catches on
if your blatantly trying to gouge them
and your toast anyway.
What is pathetic is the brown 4 12 cab looked so neat
id still try to buy it but not at what he paid.
I bet he paid 8 grand for it shipped.
ed collings fabric is the best for that I can and will vouch
for it only because I own an original to compare it too and lay it on.
Same stuff but the scrim on the original is grey too almost charcoal looking.
Im fortunate to own it cause the economy is tight right now.

Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
Yeah, I believe that is the place that was counterfeiting amps and selling them as original.
Many stories surround that place.

Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
It's a pretty safe bet there are a few fake Dumbles out there. Let's face it, chassis were made and available by a few people. With enough attention to detail, some very passable forgeries could be made. There was a rumor that a batch was made about ten or 12 years ago on the west coast, and Dumble got a tech support phone call about a serial number that he actually had in his shop at the time !! He told the guy "it's a fake"...It might be a bigger challenge in the UK just to source the right parts), but not impossible.

Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
Wouldn't surprise me if those builders used this forum for info Pics, etc.. to carve their forgery's.. That would kind of bite the weenie huh!!
If anyone has pics of these amps we should post them (Reliable source of coarse)

Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
I know people who have been ripped by these guys,
and seen some of their stuff sold as original amps,
,,,could have fooled a lot of guys, and thats just so sad !
/ however I just wanted make clear regarding the orange suede Dumble 2x12 that is mentioned above in the thread that was offered by these guys a year ago or so,
Music Ground actually never had that thing in their possesion & merely offered to sell it for a friend of mine , so he sent them the pix of it,
same pix as they used in their ads,
My friends speaker cab is the real deal and is btw previously owned by Chris Cross.

Re: Dumble Fake Amps in Circulation
Curious news, wow!
Two weeks ago they were selling a pair of "original" narrow boxed
Marshall cabinets that didn't look quite right to me. The handles weren't
like others I've seen from the '63~'65 period. But the Celestions sure
looked correct but they could've pulled them from elsewhere too.
At $5K+ before shipping and duties I balked just on my suspicions. But
only 10 or 15 years ago Music Ground had a decent reputation for procuring
vintage gear of the UK kine.
Sad innit?
