It's important for rockabilly posers to appear to have a blue collar ethic and dis any piece of gear that wasn't recorded at sun records. Ironic how a bunch of fakes spout off about authenticity when they never had an original idea in their head.

Any amp can sound great if you play with your legs spread wide enough and have enough sparkles on your guitar.

As far as amp builder/artists go, I'm much more curious what was going on in Frank Marino's amp than Billy Zooms. If blackface fender is as good as it gets, why bother building anything at all?

Which suggests to me it wasn't outright ignorance, but rather intentional dis-information laced with a little sour grapes.

I can't believe no one has chimed in on that BZ thread - One cap change makes a Twin an ODS - wow, makes you also question the statement about being able to design an amp from the ground up without copying any legacy designs.
