My experiences

Post by FUCHSAUDIO »

Despite claims to the contrary (that Bruno doesn't clone), of the two I have worked on, both were clones of 70's Dumbles, with 100-K/1.5-K plate loads, no HRM or post od tone stacks.

All were built on steel chassis (which appear to be the same ones used for other Bruno models), turret board construction, with power and outputs transformers of undetermined origin.

He may have changed circuits since the units I saw, as recent claims are that the current amps are "Bruno's take on a Dumble, with Tony's own tweaks and changes".

If you like how it sounds, buy it. The circuit is secondary, if you like the tone.

A road I shall not travel again.

There may be a Bruno pic or two on the web or this site someplace. I submitted one here, and got beat-up for it, so forgive me if I don't post anymore.

"The S100 is an 80s style amp that is a non post EQ tone stack. So it is not HRM." This is from Ken.

I agree with that assesment since I owned an 80s DUmble with the skyliner eq. The Bruno Supers that I own are essentially the same amp.

Karl, be careful!!!! I started a shitstorm on TGP with pictures of a Super 100 that was dropped off to me by a local musician and Gear Page member that he bought from Guitar Center. It was horrible! Masking tape, Goop, Plastic ties and epoxy on everything! It could be the same one depending on where you are! The guy brought to me and it had serious issues. You couldn't fix anything because the boards, standoffs and chassis were all epoxied together. Here is a pic...ask to see the insides first!!!!

I don't even let my prototypes get that bad...and even then I go back in and completely replace the circuit board 'just cuz it looks bad'.

I remember that TGP thread...unreal.

As sad as it is...if you took two identical amps and priced one at 4x the other...the perception would be that the more expensive one was the better amp.
