Okay I will use this board for my drill pattern.

That was a clone someone built of the Two Rock.
Re: want 2 Rok JM signature tone board layout
Looks a little cramped.
Hard to fit resistors with eyelets that close.
I would use a standard Dumble layout for that.

I don't think so... looks like a two rock to me... their caps.... polarity markings....

I'm drawing up my own board since I need to know where all those board components go anyway I might as well do it my way. This 2 Rok has reverb loop. Five preamp tubes.

Tony I very briefly researched these awhile back, my best guess without having any in hand was Vishay Draloric LCA series, .6 wattstalbany wrote:Anybody know what Carbon films those are?

If I had to guess again, bet they are close to the Q-lines (Draloric) HAD used.talbany wrote:Thanks Mike (aka Resistor Man)..Was thinking they have a Draloric look about them.. Tony in the past I have ordered non-stock small special orders from Allied Electronics , but I don't think they do that anymore. My choice if I really wanted to chase these would to contact Farnell to see if they would do a small quanity special order. I would not even consider Mouser, I bet a min order would be 500 or 1000 of each value.
I bet TR gets them directly from the manufacturer.

Re: want 2 Rok JM signature tone board layout
I don't understand that layout at all.
Why would you cram all the components into a 1/3 of the board when there is plenty of room to spread things out?
Is there any sonic advantage to the crammage?

Oh, yes, it eliminates cross talk being so nice and close together, living in harmony. Is there any sonic advantage to the crammage?

Years ago I talked to Bill or the other TR guy whose name I forget. They had just released an amp called the Opal which, I was told, was kind of a point to point Dumble. Their idea was that lead / wire = noise and a longer response time. By having things with less lead/wire = less noise and faster response.Structo wrote:I don't understand that layout at all.

Personally, I find their amps funny looking and a bit sloppy for the money. That said, they sound pretty good, so what do I know?
