How to work the Overdrive

Post by danotron »

Check this out at 13:45. Is this how you guys work your OD? Have I been doing this wrong...?? I thought one knob was gain and the other knob was volume....The clean volume also has a effect too...correct?...it feeds the OD...---> cascaded gain stages...

If the that amp was labled DRIVE and VOLUME instead of LEVEL and RATIO, he would have explained it differently and as how you see it. HAD being HAD, it's confusing....LOL

They work like gain and volume to me and that is how they work in the schematic the way I see it. Level and ratio are terrible descriptions IMO. The way it is explained in the video leads me to believe that those guys don't understand the circuit.

Oh, and that demo sounds like ass.

I agree about the explanation, the "RATIO" labeled control threw them for a loop. Yeah I made comments when those clips where first posted here, that I thought that amp was tired and sick.

The annoying guy with hair plays the guitar not the amp. Playing a D style amp has helped me learn how to be a very dynamic player...evolution.

Indeed - it's like a saturday morning guitar center customer vs. a pro player.

Kind off funny and unapreciative.. the guys managed to get their hands on a dumble, make loads of pics.. visit this forum to announce it and even made a nice quality video with different guitar on how the thing sounds (instead of the usual cellphone crap). And in return he gets laughed at for his playing.

Not really inviting for future other people who might be willing to make proper demo's of such amps, share pictures or take measurements right?

I don't see any laughing...just....critiquing!

Some guys play guitar....some play guitar and the amp.

No one in the video is a "bad player" just different.
It was actually nice to hear two different style players on the same amp.
