With PAF style pickups equipped Gibson it is already in the overdrive territory on 2.
Is that to be expected or am I missing something?
Based on Charlie's description at the beginning of this journey, I think that this might be normal. I'll have mine finished in a day or two. I'll let you know if I find the same.
Thanks, Mike. Appreciated.
That was my reading, but still I thought it will get at least to the "standard" circuit level of clean.
I will do some calculations and LTSpice model should time permits.

What did most of you use for the Power Transformer?

Standard Tweed Deluxe specs?

Or blackface values?

Classictone 5E3 for me too - I used the 40-18078 (I used the 330-0-330 winding) and 40-18090 4-8-16 OT - it really sounds good to me.

I have my Tweedle D amp completed, doing voltage testing now.

With a JJ 5Y3 and JJ 6V6GT power tubes

V1- GE short plate 12ax7

V2- Sylvania long plate 12ax7

B+1 384v
B+2 346v
B+3 303v
B+4 281v

V1 plates 175/ 177

V2 plates 204/ 250 ( I may have to double check that reading or replace the tube.

I used a 330R 10w cathode resistor initially.

With 24v on the cathode resistor I come up with 13.5w

I will probably do a stack like the original to better dissipate heat.

I tried it with a Strat with a bridge humbucker and it sounded pretty good.

My voltages are within range of the Dumble amp ~5-10v lower

With the 330R cathode bias resistor I came up with 26 watts or 13.1w per tube.
Is that a problem?

How much current are you guys running on the cathode?

I am using the JJ 6V6's

Lack of videos and clips

Post by roknroll »

I know I am a bit late in the conversation but the excitement level here has me baffled and intrigued. There are no clips that I have found or videos any where. What gives? :? :?
