Oh don't worry. It wasn't my 7K. If I had that I would replace my old rusted out Izusu Trooper.

Any guess as to the value of the three cathode power resistors in parallel for the 6V6's?

Ha! Polypropylene! Those are going to sound nasty harsh and overly bright. That's what I read on the internet, anyway ;^)

716s? The discussion would be even worse.

I totally respect all your decisions so far. :P

I think in this amp maybe a little edgy or bright wasn't a bad thing. The player was using a Les Paul and wanted it to rock. PS series maybe a little to round sounding. I don't know if you can see them in the pictures but it also had 1.5k metal film grid stoppers on the power tubes.

Since it's been robbed of it's vintage amp status anyway, why use the fiberboard? Seems like it would have been worth it to use a more reliable board material.

250 ohm
So I'm assuming that's 250 ohms total resistance and not 250 ohms per resistor...

So could this circuit be the same as the "Angel's Breath" amp Robbin Ford was to have used for some recordings a few years back?

Yes, two 100 ohm and one 50 ohm in series. I think the amp Robben Ford used was another Dumble take on the Tweed Deluxe but all 12AT7 preamp tubes.

I drew a schematic with the help of Charlie Wilson's pics and notes. I guessed the values for the first three plate couplers, tone caps and transformers. I don't think I landed to far off the reservation though.

If you guys see something funky, let me know and I'll update it.

Thanks Charlie, way to make a splash! 8)

Maybe this is my next project? I recently put this 5e3 together with leftover parts from the Manzamp build. Obviously nothing vintage or original here, so no tears lost in converting it.

I did a schematic too... used the new Fender 57 Deluxe drawing as a template which has little do-dads that are nice like SS diodes before the tube rectifier, an in-rush surge protector....

Now if we could add some reverb, nice little gig amp; :D
