Finally have a new shop... YEAH

Post by glasman »

After YEARS of working on the corner of my computer desk building amps my new house affords me space for a dedicated work shop with two complete testing / build stations!

Here is a shot of the new workbench.

No granite lol. Just a nice laminate from Home Depot. About $1000 in countertope and another 2500 in Storage Cabinets. The amp racks supporting the work bench I built myself. Still figurijng out where all the crap has to go.

4 to 6 a month on average. I took on a couple of dealers so that keeps me busy, Lots of Zingaros (25 and 50W) and other SOD II's.

Thie last three weeks have been less as I didn't have a working shop until this week. But now I will be back at it with myself and two others building sub assemblies, boards and initial chassis wiring. i will be turning over the Zingaros to my son, Travis, who has built about 40 Z's over the past few years.

I have also contacted a couple of contract houses that may ne doing some of the board construction. I am still up on the air about contracting out work.

Looks great Gary, your inventory must be huge.

Makes me want to move back to Gilbert, AZ to be close to all the action down there in Phoenix area. :) And get away from the snow again. :)

Yeah, I have a few bucks in iron, cabinets and speakers at my storage unit. My next project is moving my inventory from my old storage site to my new storage unit. Went from 350 square feet to 450 sqaure foor with 15 foot ceiling for storage. Could actually put a second level (or very tall shelfs) in there if needed. I think if I get to that point, I will be looking for office space. One step at a time.

I see more than a few bucks in test equipment. Scopes, power supplies, network analyzers, signal generators... Looks very capable.

You should have called me I can destroy home depots prices especially on their higher end stuff. But the cost of beer for me to deliver to az might offset it :D

Nice bench Gary!

I would love to have a dedicated area for amps.

Until then the kitchen table will have to do. :D

I have been lucky, the company I work for (30 years) uses this type of stuff and I stand by the dumpster when they are trashing equipment (end of life) Two analyzers and a digitial scope acquired that way.

The single most expensive purchase was the LCR Bridge at about 3K.
