Does a dunble ator affect the tone of the amp without effects running through it?

Thanks
Keith

Indeed, it can act as an extra tone control and master volume. I don't have a master volume bright cap on my 102 and so I use the bright switches on the Dumbleator instead, it gives extra control over the brightness of the amp IMHO this way.

Sounds like it helps with the highs that are common in the 102 amps. hmm
I'm going to have to start collecting parts.

When it comes to my post I'm open to any input. If the subject changes to speakers or cabs on ok with it. Anything that can help me learn more about this rig the better.

I did check out the phase inverter thing again and it doesn't look to bad. I do t have a signal generator or dummy load so I'm going to have to try the meter method. Sound alike allot of it is ear anyways. Close your eyes and let the music flow. If it sounds right you will know.

Thanks

I might have a line on a pair of EVM12L speakers that need Re-coning. I'll keep you posted if I make the deal or not.....

One speaker works fine but the other has a buzz to it. I removed the dust cap and it looks like the cap wasn't put on correctly. If I push the cone in and out a bit it didn't make noise but if I tapped on the dust cap I got a crackling noise. I also had a wide noise when I tapped on the speaker magnet. I ordered some new dust caps and glue. I'm going to do more testing of the speaker and if it seems ok I'll intall a new dust cap.

One of the speakers is bad so I'm going to order a replacement cone for it at some point. Just ordered a tl-806 cab off of ebay-:) need to order a new output transformer so I can run an 8ohm load. The cab is going to be a raw cab with no hardware or covering. Might stain it but not sure yet. The EV should love it's new home when it gets here:)

Hey Keith-
Just an FYI, Alexander, and many others, have run 1X12 TL806 cabs with single EVM12l with
a standard, that is 4 ohm, output transformer.
Don't spend the money unless you don't like how it sounds.
It's a tried and true application.

I still really want the option of running 4 ohm and 8 ohm cabinets. I'm selling stuff that I don't use anymore so it's really not wasted money. I have another amp I could use either transformer in.

Rock and roll.
