Rock/Jazz switch: how does the amp react with or without it

Post by peckjed »

Currently I have an ODS style amp that is lacking the rock/jazz switch. I know how to add one in, I was just curious if anyone could elaborate on the tonal shift that will occur once installed. Thanks!

MY take on it is that when in the "JAZZ" mode, the output is lowered and it sounds a little more "HI-FI-ish", if that makes sense. With other words the tonal response seems a little flatter across the bandwidth of the amp. In my personal opinion, the "Rock" mode suits my taste much better, at least with the Skyline EQ. I haven't tried it with the "Classic" EQ. Your mind may vary. I've built them with and without the Rock / Jazz switch and I felt that that switch added complexity to the build, where the payoff of was minimal. Again, this is just my 2 pennies.
