I used them back in the '60s and '70s because you could find one or the other in any parts house you walked into. CDE and Mallory were both quality caps and they looked very similar. I have several .1 and .047 CDEs but they were pulled from pcbs so the leads are short.

I got some chocolate drop caps from my TAG friend Colossal I'll have to take a look at them to see what exactly they are, don't remember.
