I was thinking the same and was wondering what other forum members are doing on that end

I threw together a schematic of a 50w version from Taylor's layout. I'd appreciate any comments, critiques, etc.

I noticed you used 220uf filter caps for the power supply. I know they used that size for the 100 watt version . I used 2 100uf caps for the 50 watt version to make it not as stiff , but maybe you may prefer that. I am sure others with more experience will chime in.

I prefer less filtering, as well, so I will probably do the same. Thanks.

the 1M-68k voltage divider kills too much gain for me even in a 100w amp so I'd definitely change that in a 50w. I can't remember off hand what I ended up with but I think it was maybe a 150k.

Maybe add a trim pot in line with the 68k, tweak to taste, then replace with a fixed value?

I think norburybrook was talking about later in the circuit? The R22 resistor sends part of the signal to ground. Using a larger resistor for R22 would send less signal to ground and maintain more (dry) signal voltage for the mixer stage.

yes, that picture is the high /low input and grid stoppers. it's the voltage divider later in the circuit that cuts a lot of gain.

For comparison: The Ceriatone 50w JM uses 250kA contour pot and 1M-68k voltage divider.

Caps are 220uf/385 x 2 in power supply

FWIW > If you check out Taylor's pics, the first two are a 100w and the larger filter caps (220uF) are longer than the smaller filter caps (22uF). In the third pic, which is a 50w, the caps are the same length (indicates to me that they are 100uF/22uF).

F&T cap dimensions:

220uF/300V - 25mm D x 49mm L
100uF/350V - 25mm D x 38mm L
22uF/500V - 18mm D x 39mm L

As far as I understand most (if not all) Fender amps have a 2 springs reverb tank. Two Rock amps use 3 springs reverb tanks, except for a few exceptions like the Matt Schofield amp which has 2.

Is it fair to assume JM Two Rock has a 3 spring tank?

Are all Dumble amps with 2 spring reverb tanks?

here's a bit of Jazz guitar with my 100w JM amp with an acusonics USA 1980's reverb tank.

Amp thorugh a 2x12 dumble oval backed cabinet with two vintage G12-65 celestions. No EQ or extra verb were added, this was the straight sound of the amp recorded.

thank you :D the amp is identical except for the voltage divider (1M-68K) I think it was. i changed that as it sucked too much gain for me. I can't remember what i changed it to. If you look at my build thread it will be there

the transformers and tank came from a 1980's peavey combo. I'm not sure how many springs are in there without looking but it's a lovely clean amp with a wonderful reverb :D

I've recently done an extensive profiling of the amp/cab with my kemper and have been selling the profiles to Kemper owners :D
