2nd Gen hybrid

Everything is installed and finished!
The speaker is a Fane Studio 12L I had bought in 2010. Last year I tried to sell this speaker, noone interested
Glad I kept it, super nice speaker, slightly less mids compared to EVM12L but enough bottom end for a combo cab.

I tried to lower the 1M at the OD entrance but it went to the fuzzy side.
Overall the amp is bright but not too bright, really balanced and mature.
The overdrive is super smooth and not so mid heavy compared to the later generation designs IMO.
It also has a nice sustain especially with the FET engaged!
The NFB is 3K3 but that is going to be 5K. I can really open up the presence without getting icepicky.
So far this is my favourite amp, it's super versatile and none of my guitars sounds flubby or congested with this design.

The next few weeks I'll make some soundsamples.

As part of a complete documented build I thought it would be fun to have some soundsamples.
Yesterday I made a little recording with the amp and a strat loaded with Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot on neck and middle pu and a Seymour duncan little 59 on the bridge.
Both intro and first part of the melody are on neck pu with the amp in overdrive mode. Later when it gets gainier it's on the bridge pu with overdrive, pab en fet engaged.
Rhythm part in the background is clean on bridge and mid pu.

Hi Paul,
Thanks! Switches: bright switch off, mid boost off, rock/jazz on rock. Intro: overdrive on. Gainy part of the solo, overdrive, pab and FET on.

Other things compared to the layout: 5k trimpot on the pi, 2,2uF presence cap, 15pF on master clean pot. 2k grid resistors for 6L6GC tubes.
220k//250pF on the FX loop(only matters with dumblelator), Outer foil positioning coupling caps: since doing this every amp build is more articulate and has a tight low end.

I forgot to mention I hooked up a dumblelator in the loop, it has the bright switch on the recovery pot of the dumblelator engaged. That way the tone of the amp is very similar to the amp without dumblelator. Since the volume during recording was at light moderate band volume the dumblelator adds some compression which came out very well in the recording.

Erwin your amp sounds great. I am curious, you have a 8 ohm speaker, so you are running a 4 ohm OT in to an 8 ohm load? I know this is common in Dumbles but I haven't really liked the sound of that. However, your amp sounds good(I have a 1970 NOS Fender Twin OT waiting in the wings). Also, I know there are some issues with the layout. I think the bass pot needs a 10k tail to ground and you mentioned the jazz/rock switch. Do you remember what the other issues are? I think I seem to remember that the OD relay wasn't correct.

Hi Charlie, thanks! You are correct its a 4ohm Ot with a 8 Ohm speaker. As I recall Robben Ford's #102 has similar mismatch: a 2 ohm ot in a 4 ohm cab.
Bass pot: I used a 10k tail, jazz/rock is to watch for and the wiring from and to the Pi and fx loop puzzled me, I don't remember exactly what, a HRM layout for reference should be fine since it has a similar wiring for the Od relay.
