I know this is common in Dumbles but I haven't really liked the sound of that. However, your amp sounds good(I have a 1970 NOS Fender Twin OT waiting in the wings). Also, I know there are some issues with the layout. I think the bass pot needs a 10k tail to ground and you mentioned the jazz/rock switch. Do you remember what the other issues are? I think I seem to remember that the OD relay wasn't correct.

CW, IIRC the issues surround the OD was the way JB laid out his relay board which was different from HAD. It's been years since I have looked inside mine, but I have either a 1.8 or 3.3k hanging off the bass pot and a few other changes as well.

The speaker is a Fane Studio 12L I had bought in 2010. Last year I tried to sell this speaker, noone interested :D
Glad I kept it, super nice speaker, slightly less mids compared to EVM12L but enough bottom end for a combo cab.

I tried to lower the 1M at the OD entrance but it went to the fuzzy side.
Overall the amp is bright but not too bright, really balanced and mature.
The overdrive is super smooth and not so mid heavy compared to the later generation designs IMO.
It also has a nice sustain especially with the FET engaged!
The NFB is 3K3 but that is going to be 5K. I can really open up the presence without getting icepicky.
So far this is my favourite amp, it's super versatile and none of my guitars sounds flubby or congested with this design.

The next few weeks I'll make some soundsamples.

Great build!

Great playing and tone!! Well done. This is a great circuit and IMO the absence of OD master is key (thank you Martin Manning).
If it sounds good, it is good! Trust your ears

Having this amp over a year now, it's a blast to play it in a live setting. Right now a 335 guitar is my favourite with the 2nd gen hybrid.

Sounds great!

I've never owned an ES model guitar before, but I have had my eye on an ES-339 for a while now.

I edited your post erwin,

the youtube tag is a bit weird, it just want's your last part of the video like this: SZblHm2r2WI

instead of the full link, then you wrap it with the youtube tag. The newer 'video' tag is much better and works for many video types and you just provide the URL.

Sounds great!

Picks? I cant remember posting about my picks. I use Chicken Picks: small detail, great tone. :D
I used different shops over the years for relay:

Are the relay suppliers adresses sufficient for you?

Hi erwin_ve,

I am extremely curious and am considering building this project. I built a 50W JM and it is one of my favorite amp for clean tone, probably the best I've played or built. :D
I feel the lack of serious OD and I could add a good pedal to the front but I would also like to build an amp that has the JM cleans and OD of the early Dumble, when his designs were still Fender children.
Do you think this 2nd gen hybrid is what I'm looking for ?.
Unfortunately YouTube has deleted your demo which I would have liked to hear.
Thanks for your help.
