I am new to relays in general. I have connected the red wire to CT on Hammond transformer which is what it shows on the Ceriatone diagram.

But does it matter which side of the transformer I connect to and get the 6VA (#8 or #5) as shown on the diagram secondary taps?

Thanks

You have to connect BOTH to get 6vAC. The layout on page one of this thread shows the grey wires labeled 0 and 6 (for volts).
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

the primary is where your mains voltage goes into and the secondary is the 6v output which goes to your rectifier board. It doesn't matter which way round they are.

looking at the ceriatone diagram they have the 6-0v coming as a separate tap fro the mains transformer. You have a separate transformer for the reverb so you need to attach a feed to the primary connections from your mains power and the connect the outputs(secondary's 6-0) to the rectifier board.

Hammond's diagram is very poor. So apparently the primary is connected to your choice of primary both are 115v.

This transformer is over kill as far as amps needed.

it looks to me like your filament transformer is center tapped. I dont think you want to hook your center tap up to anything for the voltage doubler circuit used to supply the relays.

Yes terminal 7 is the secondary center tap.

My understanding from the Ceriatone diagram is that the relay circuit is connected to 6, 0 from the transformer. In the Hammond that would be #8 6V and #7 CT which is 0.

There is no CT on the Ceriatone transformer only 6v and 0v so requires a bridged rectifier.

The hammomd is setup for 5v-0-5v it states 10vct

The board he is using isnt a standard bridge rectifier though it is a voltage doubler with two caps in place of diodes. It has a ground reference and doesnt need the center tap hooked up. Check my logic on this

What voltage is the relay supply regulator supposed to put out?

OK - let me see if I can answer a lot of the posts.

The Hammond 186B12 is a Dual Primary

Primary Voltage Rating: 115 VAC, 230 VAC
Secondary Voltage Rating: 12.6 VAC CT
Power Rating: 6.3 VA

My understanding is that Pin #5 and #8 are 6V but obviously the polarity would be opposite. Pin #7 is the Center Tap (0).

So in order to get 6VAC into the voltage doubler, it was my understanding that I would use Pin#7 and 8.

I found another user on here that used the same transformer here:

Parallel the primaries for 120V operation (connect 1 and 3, and 2 and 4). For the secondary you can use 5 and 7 or 8 and 7.
