Got some Kester "44" coming in the mail Tuesday. That is the only real solder there is, isn't it?
Doing mechanical stuff until then and getting all the pieces parts lined up.

Been saving a tube compliment for this build and dug it up this morning. A quad of Winged C 6L6, old GE for V1, old Mullard for V2 and Mullard reissue long plate for PI.

Agreed on the Kester, I think Dave Jones from EEVBlog is who recommended it on a video, but I love the stuff.

Ersin Multicore has become difficult to find on this side of the Atlantic, especially if you want non-RoHS compliant.

I will tell you from my build and chasing that tone for over 3 years on a thing that I learned is. You must get the 400k on the bass pot. It is very important because of the way the PAB works. if you go with a 500k pot it will always be too bassy. I did it with a 500k pot and some resistors.

Thanks for the tip. Will spec the pot and see where I'm at.

Progress and screen resistor question:

Man this is a lot of parts... Got most of the mechanical stuff fitted and found these 470R 2 watt metal films in the parts drawer. Do I need to order some 5W cement resistors or other? Or will these do for power tube screens? I have one more parts order list going any way. Advice is greatly appreciated!

The 2W MF will work fine for screen resistors. Note Fender used 1W on Twin Reverb amps. Why not wire in the FET? True you need another jack (Switchcraft 14B or 13E, Cliff TRS, or the Kobicon HAD used) for the input, but it's an on-board clean boost... more tone options!

I figured these would do. Just looking for some confirmatiion.. Yeah - why be lazy on the FET. Will add the jack and stuff to my parts list. You talked me into it!

Another option is replace the FET jack with a pull pot that switches the FET in, and replaces the trimmer on the FET board.

Now that looks more worth doing!
