I've never found any of my #102 builds overly bright. Far from it compared to a Trainwreck.

OK, so the treble reducing network at the send and return jacks is reducing too much high end for me. When jumpered with a short cable the amp wakes up and I have more high end than I would ever need. Can really tell that the treble pot is indeed working correctly. I do kinda like a bit of what that network is doing. Could I replace the 220k resistor there with a pot? or change the 500pf caps there to something else? Maybe change the values and add a defeat switch? With a dumbleator in the loop there is much goodness....
