Bruce,
Happy birthday and thanks for the story.
I got to see SRV in Fargo, ND not too long prior to his tragic death and he was sounding fantastic.

Cool story, thanks for sharing!!!
It sounded so sweet... And then it caught fire!
Re: My Dumble Story
When you describe the bit about too much bass, it reminds me of this scene from "This Is Spinal Tap":
Mike
It was also interesting to hear that an SSS is just an ampeg SVT with an ODS preamp.Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

Re: My Dumble Story
LOL, great scene .
My band did the UK leg of that SRV tour and I got to play with Stevie I remember his rig very well....it was the loudest thing I'd ever heard.....
happy birthday Bruce..
My Bruce story
you were very encouraging to me a few years ago when I was getting some flack on an amp builder forum because I'd built an ODS with 'Dumble' on it. people, including Bruce thought I was an experienced builder but when I said it was the first time I'd ever built one, and only the second amp ever, Bruce sent me a private message apologising and offering me help and encouragement. Those things stay with you, so thank you

Bruce, thanks for sharing this, great stuff! I love hearing about legends like this, even if it humanizes them some (but really the playing is pretty stellar, isn't it
