The amp in the Frisell video is the smallest of the three Small Specials. That amp has a 15 1/2" chassis (maybe it's even 15"), so the total width of the cab is 17 ".
The amp in this thread, with the effects loop, has a 17 1/2" chassis and a cab width of 19 1/8".

The JM Sig Wonderland I built is in a 19" chassis, with a cab width of 20 1/2". I think it would be tricky to go any narrower on the Wonderland, especially at 100 Watts, but then you look at some of the Redplate amps that Henry builds and you think you're wasting space. The Redplates pack a lot into a "small" amp. They amaze me.

Your Wonderland in a combo would work fine, but yes, it would be heavy (especially with an EV12L) . Not necessarily too large though.

Haven't seen the Frisell doc. I'll look for it.

Hey telentubes,

Superb Build, and this amp has been already blessed by many great players !

I am researching in order to build a small special with 6V6s instead of 6L6s and was thinking of adding a mid control and an active FX loop as well.
How would you compare this Merlin FX to the D-Lator?
I like the idea of the single button on this FX Loop.
On the D-Lator, you end basically with two MV a lot of bright switches and I try to go towards less is more as well ;)
Any link to a schematic or reference to another TAG post ?
Thanks !

Fred.
