Converting Impedance Switch to 3 Position

I have an Electroswitch D4G0303N Rotary switch that I am going to use as a 3 position impedance switch. Currently it is a 2 position switch. I saw here on the forum that to convert to a 3 position switch you simply cut off a stop lug. I see no mention of *how* to cut it off. It's probably no big deal but the part was not cheap so I thought I'd ask before hacking away: How does everyone here go about removing the stop lug?
