So after two days of solid troubleshooting, she's fixed. Turns out I had two problems, not one.

Problem one was when the signal would drop out and get replaced with white noise. Tightening the power tube sockets didn't help. Reflowing the power tube connections didn't help. Reflowing the PS board didn't help. So, I rebuilt the entire PS board, because I had some difficulties replacing the 22k in the dropping string with an 18k. Sure enough, the new board solved that problem.

And then this second problem got worse...this raygun noise on selected notes. I was at a loss, until I read mat's post. Then I remembered that I snagged a wire when I was fitting my footswitch relay boards to mark the holes to be drilled. I went back and reflowed the connects on the wires I could have snagged. Fixed! Woot!
