Fender Super 60 to DType.

Post by Beerman »

Hey all.

I've just posted this at the BrownNote forum too.

I have a Fender Super 60 (2*6L6 and 4*12a_7) that I would like to use as the basis for a Dumble clone.... do any of you have any advice regarding the Iron's suitability for this purpose, or any other advice re start points, suitable circuits.... etc...

I had a bit of a search before I posted this, it seems like a lot of conversions had been done with older style amplifiers, but this is a '90 model with red knobs, and I was unsure about it's suitability.

Thank y'all in advance.

Fender field guide says 2 12ax7 and 2 6l6. The schematic shows 3 12ax7s. Whatever - I'm sure the iron would be fine (schematic shows 475 plate B+ and regular 2,4,8 ohm output) since it's not ultra linear and you have enough knob holes in the front. Plan on gutting everything but the input AC. tube sockets and heater wiring.
