The SSS Filter Circuit Inductor

Various experiments and simulations presented in this forum have indicated that
the inductor in the filter circuit is not necessary with regard to the overall response.
However, since an inductor introduces a phase shift, is that phase shift actually
imperceptible in its contribution to the actual tone?
