D'Lite with extras - finished!

Post by kleinm »

Hey guys. This amp has turned into somewhat of a summer project, between all the modifications and extras I've added. The main things I've added are:

- Mid cap switch (rear mounted)
- Passive, serial FX loop (for my Klein-ulator)
- 3-way foot switching for PAB, OD, and bright

There's also a handful of toneshaping modifications, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

Thanks to Moss, Norm, and all who helped, provided input, and have given personal experiences with different modifications and values.

Beautiful job. I'm making the assumption that the extra cap and trimpot off of OD2 plate is a treble bleeder. What values are you using and approx. what value did you trim to?

Thanks!

You assumed correctly. Its a .001uF 225P cap with a 500k trimpot. IIRC, I have the trimmer (set as a variable resistor, not voltage divider) set around 330k to ground.

Hey, what's the part number for that XLR jack you used for the channel switching?

Switchcraft 57GB5FX. $3.01 from Mouser (502-57GB5FX).

Beautiful build! Just a hint...you can move the OD and PAB switches to the rear panel and free up the front switches for additional tone switching options. Only problem, of course, is they won't be labeled correctly.

It sounds great. I absolutely love it. It sounded awesome at the beginning, and was a blast to tweak a few things here and there to my tastes.

What? No Klein-u-lator in there? :) Looks great. I'm sure it sounds that way too.

Right now I have EHs in V1 and V3, and a Chinese 12AX7A in V2 because my EH died. I'm still testing for the right combination. In the power I've got TAD 6L6WGCs. They are SO creamy and buttery. Not quite as powerful as the Winged Cs, but just seemed warmer and more billowy, if that makes any sense.

Nah, the Klein-ulator is always external. ;)
