KT77s / EL34s

Post by pedro »

Guys,

any preferences on KT77s or EL34 brands in the ODS clones ?
just done the BM PI mods in my new build and need some new EL34s. I've got 5 or 6 but they are old and have wildly different current draws.
( Suppose I could modify to indiv bias though  )

Oh well, no replies

FWIW, I installed some nice brown base Svetlana EL34s in and they baised up nicely
they sound very good - creamy smooth cleans as well as nice OD.

I prefer them to the TAD 6L6's I had in before ( the EL34s have the BM PI circuit changes too , so maybe better suited to this output stage )

cheers

Fwiw, now that I have Fender iron in my HRM amp, I much prefer 6L6 tubes. The thing is which style output you have. There was something not right about the 6L6 tubes in my Marshall 50 watt tranny.

OK, Dog, Groov,

I have a Bassman replacement drop in TX which I'll try with the 6L6s.

Definitely enjoying the sound with the EL34s and BM PI though :D

where can I order a 100 watt showman type OT with 16.8 and 4 ohm taps?
I'm doing a build into a funk chassis and I want the switch to do what it says.

From Funk himself -- he uses Heyboer. The OT is a Twin type with multiple taps.

Thanks - I should have done that - I ordered an "Evil Twin" OT, it has the right taps but it was $100.
