Corrupted PT
Seems like my Dumble 50w PT is gone to transformer heaven. When I disconnect all secondaries, the fuse still blows? Even as high as 5A.
Is the a recommendation for a new on? 240v?

if no any load on secondaries, and is blowing the fuses.. you can start searching replacement..

This factory shut down, but some left over transformers are still sold.

Re: Corrupted PT
Great tip, but the shipping cost is around 120 dollars, a bit expensive?

Re: Corrupted PT
The shipping cost will depend on where in the world you live. For my SSS i bought allmost all parts and transformers in the USA. Somehow where i live, it is very hard if not impossible to find quality parts. When i buy cheap transformers and parts i may save a little money, but i have to look and listen to it for years. Over time quality is more important to me than the money payed.
Re: Corrupted PT
you can wound any trafo in local winding ship for 60usd..so no need to order and pay 3 times if expensive

Could anyone verify if the enclosed specs for an Edcore PT be appropriate for a Dumble 50w?

Hello Oddvar,
since it seems that your location is Europe you might have a look at this polish supplier:
https://amptone.pl/p/273/2443/power-tra ... rmers.html
This one has more or less Dumble ODS 50W specs. It has an extra 12VAC secondary for the relays.

Re: Corrupted PT
A good tip. Ever since Classictone went out of business, transformers seem hard to come by?
Re: Corrupted PT
Why not using Hammond transformers? I have standard Twin Reverb transformers (290FEX PT) in my build and I'm very happy with the result. For 50w use the 290EEX.

I totally agree with you, I have used Hammonds in many of my builds, but trying new ones, maybe get a different sound, being able to state what differences are, that's part of the fun, isn't it?

I have also used Hammonds in several builds, including that 290FEX in a 124 and a 183. They are just fine and dandy as far as I am concerned.norburybrook wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:09 pmI used those in my first ever #102 build and it's still going strong and has been a fantastic ampLothy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 10:04 amWhy not using Hammond transformers?
