Making a go of the UP Bassman.

Post by FuzzFaceBuilder »

Taking my time building an UP amp into an old Bassman 50 amp chassis. That rock/jazz switch is a PITA to wire. Still dressing wire.

Let me know if you guys see anything.

Thanks!

What schematic and layout are you using?

Mostly working out of this thread, and some educated guesses:

i like everything inside, waiting the final result. 8) i would put 220k MF for the bias of out. stage, better, and save Dralorics for some other signal purpose

Or use the Radio Shack carbon films and Allen Bradley carbon comp like Dumble.

Here you go!

UP Bassman w/Gain as it looked at power up. Played it for a few weeks then started tweaking circuit. (FYI, component values stayed the same, only their composition changed).

I’ve been using the “gain” video as a guideline for tuning the circuit. (As ridiculous as this may sound, after playing my amp for a few weeks, I’m pretty sure the “Jazz” switch is ON in this video).

Any other recordings/videos of others playing this amp, by any chance?

More to come soon.
