Proper ODS 183 transformer spec?
Been researching the transformers used in ODS 183. The layout on this site cites a "[Pacific] 1052 rebranded Magic Parts TF130" for the PT, however today's Magic Parts TF130 is a 2x6L6GC part. I found a post somewhere here of a build using this part that ran extremely hot (no surprise), unawares of the change.
So if these no longer exist, and I was to have "the ideal set" custom wound, what details does anyone have/know about of the old Pacific 1052 transformer? I will continue my search, but cannot find anything that certainly reflects what HD put into 183.
I intend to have a set wound by Thordarson-Meissner. If enough people are interested in a set, and commit, that will collectively bring the cost down. Let me know. But first, the proper specifications! Thanks.

It’s a 100 watt plexi output replacement . Imo Merren makes the best .

I caught up with a well-known Dumble-builder this afternoon. The Magic Parts PT was described as a BF Twin PT consistent with other ODS variants. Not sure what the Magic Parts offered that others didn't.

Fyi This is all well documented on the forum . 183 plexi output with BF twin power . El34s definitely push the heater ratings, hence why a lot of people wind there’s to handle 7 amps . That being said 183 works fine.

I have both the Pacific OT and PT. They are not the same as what Dumble used. As I understand it, they did not build them but rebranded them. When demand started again (probably from the 183 craze) they tried to recreate them but not having the wrap sheets, they are not even close.
I ended up with Merren OT and PT in both my 183 and BluesMaster

I used the NOS Thordarson-Meissner set in my #102 build But on #183 had a custom PT and a 1968 OPT from a 100 watt Marshall Super Lead
That said the #183 build is way to loud with out the use of the Dumbelator Next I built a pair of 50 watt #183 no need for a Dumblator

Heyboer makes a power transformer with plenty of power for EL34s and you can get a second 6.3 volt tap to power the relays.
Re: Proper ODS 183 transformer spec?
I received a parts catalog from Magic Parts yesterday which specs the TF130 as a "Fender Twin Reverb, 4x6L6GC" transformer. It seems their website conflicts with the catalog, which looks like it was made in the 80s. I'm not sure which to believe. If I find out more, I will report.

That plexi iron sure packs a punch overall compared to twin output . Larger , more iron , definitely better for a rock band . With the merren 183 is like a sledgehammer. Punches through the mix . I personally love Marshall in your face tonality , but it’s definitely a large sonic footprint that will bark through the mix . You will always hear yourself67plexi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 5:11 am I used the NOS Thordarson-Meissner set in my #102 build But on #183 had a custom PT and a 1968 OPT from a 100 watt Marshall Super Lead
