Foot Switch Caps: 0.1uF or 0.01uF???

Post by TimDude »

Hi! Quick question. I noticed on the layouts for the ODS schematics that they call for 0.01uF caps inside the foot switch. However, on the schematic calls for 0.1uF capacitors in there. I'm curious if I'm simply reading this wrong, or if it's an error. Either way, if someone could drop in a response and tell me which way to go 0.1uF or 0.01uF, or if it even makes a difference, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, what voltage caps would I want in that position? I'm assuming 100V should do the trick since that's what's on the "manual" switches. Thanks!

102 and 124 LPC layouts show 0.1uf on the manual/pedal switch and 0.01uf on the footswitch stomp switches.

2nd and 3rd gen show 0.01uf on the manual/pedal switch and do not show footswitch wiring.

183 and bluesmaster show no caps on manual/pedal switches and no footswitch wiring shown.

Those caps just suppress popping noises, right?

Right. .1uF are fine. Remember, this is only the DC feed to the relays. It is all but isolated from the signal path. 100V is more than adequate too. You don't need to overthink these, they aren't critical components.
