You want a transformer with a primary impedance between 3.5K and 4.4K for a pair of 6L6's, preferably with a 0-4-8-16 secondary. The more Iron the better IMHO.

I really like the dynaco 470a, or the weber 50watter.

Dynaco has bit more bass, weber is a bit more compressed and tighter.

Thers other great ones out there. I have not used one, but I hear funks rule.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

The problem is that many parts and component are difficult availability in ITALY and E.U. , like DALE resistor ecc..

Many parts I must buy in USA .
My experience with WARMOTH (for example)it wasn't good , cause fees and change , even if , they worked very good.

I make many questions for documentation so Ican order all together in one only customer.

You're right about the difficulty of ordering certain parts in Europe.

In my experience Mouser are good for components because they're happy to ship USPS Global Priority which means it gets delivered by the local mail service, so you don't get charged VAT, Customs clearance fees and brokerage fees automatically by the courier; only if it happens to be a package that Customs actually inspect.

Allied will also use this shipping method, but DigiKey and Mojo (as I discovered yesterday) will use a courier.

Some of the other small suppliers like Hoffman can also be worth checking out, since a number of low-value packages are less likely to attract Customs' attention than a large, high-value one. It can often work out cheaper to use a couple of suppliers.

Heyboer, too, will ship USPS Global Priority, and can be surprisingly cheap to send transformers to Europe (an exception to the general rule). I get loads from them and the shipping costs have always been very low, whereas other suppliers have charged a small fortune.

Greetings,

I suggest that you purchase Heyboer transformer in the USA. A custom OT with 4k Ohm primary and 4,8,16 Ohm secondary costed me US$ 85, with comfortable 50W power (I use 2x EL34), and the shipping costs via Air Parcel were US$40. You cannot get it shipped from Germany to Italy for much cheaper, really. I bought two sets of PT, OT and choke, and they all arrived in several days (after 2 weeks wait for custom trafos) in excellent condition. I am very happy with Heyboer service to Europe (where I also live now). Their transformers are excellent. No need to look any further than that, IMHO.

Can you get transformers direct from Heyboer? Whenever I visit their site, they have a link to Mojo Tone for 'In-stock transformers'. Have I missed something? :?

they will sell direct, but will typically direct to Mojo if you only want 1. I have 50W OT's in stock, I just figured s&h would be ugly, it cost like $100 to ship a set to Finland recently.

Sergio, Send me a PM with what all you need, maybe I can help-
