Ordered a BlueMonkey in March 09 - Still didn't get it

Post by toh220 »

Hi guys,

I ordered a BlueMonkey kit from Brownnote about 8 months ago, and I still haven't got it.

The worst part is that last time I heard from Moss, it was September 3rd.
Since then, he doesn't reply to my mails, so I don't know what's going on.

Is there anybody who knows him well and could kindly contact him for me ?

What should I do ?

Thanks

Antoine

From what I have heard Brownote seems like a "interesting" company to me. No offense to those who have had good experiences and like the company. But I keep reading threads about months going by without kits being sent or emails being answered.

March through November is about 9 months, that beats HAD a long way.
I guess the wait must be part of the tone as well, where the real magic is.... :D

I heard of a local player who waited over a year and 3 months to receive his amp. Wasn't a kit amp, it was a built model. He was pretty patient.

I was thinking of buying a chassis, but I think I'll pass on that idea.

I have ordered two kits from Nik at Ceriatone in the past, and both times I received them in less than a week from the time I sent my payment, and that's from Malaysia!

I don't think having to wait many months for an item is acceptable. If he doesn't have a product in stock to sell, he shouldn't be taking orders.

What timeframe did he quote when you ordered? Moss is a great guy and I doubt he is doing anything to wrong you intentionally- I know that when folks order an amp from me they can expect to wait 12 or so months- these things take time :D

FWIW, this is probably not the place to air such grevances, have you tried calling him?

I'm sure that Moss is a great guy and I would like to have a beer or two with him. :)
I'm also sure that his kits/amps are of great quality.
When you order the website says that you should expect something like 6-8 weeks. I would have been fine with that.

Edit: actually it says "Please allow 2-6 weeks for delivery. Head cabs are made-to-order and may take an additional 2 weeks. This is an outside estimate and most orders will ship immediately. Currently there is a minimum 2 week wait on all Brown Note Kits."

Your totally right that this probably isn't the right place. On the other hand I think it's fair to let people know what they might expect when ordering.
I have to be done with the amp I ordered the kit for around christmas (with a busy day job). If somebody had told me I may have to wait for 8 months I wouldn't have ordered.

Peace,

Markus

I don't think this was the best method for you to address a vendor/customer issue, but nevertheless I just called him for you and asked that he check his messages. He's on the road at this moment, so he can't respond here immediately. Hopefully, he will be getting with you soon though.

A guy I know ordered a Silver Jubilee from Ceriatone.
It took right at 4 weeks to get it. It was completely assembled not a kit.

So that isn't too bad.

The op was for the purchase of a kit, not a built amp. How many months does it take to put parts in a box and send them off?

Four weeks for a built amp is great!

Tele Caster,

Advise your customer that the Brown Note kits are high quality and worth the wait explaining the situation.

Are you now planning to rush the amp building process to get this out before Christmas?

Unfortunately, the amp is intended as a 40th birthday gift for a friend. Since it is a rather expensive gift (at least for me) a lot of friends contribute financially. I promised them that I would be done with the amp in time.
If I start sourcing the parts from other vendors now (like I did for my first D like amp) I have a reasonable chance that I can build the amp in time.
