Noticed an error on the jaysg schematic (first post in this thread)... The 0.001 bass cap (C6) should be connected to the top of the bass pot as well as to the R/J switch. The dot showing that connection is missing.

Also a big thank you to Shad/ Quinn amps for all his help with the layout..without it it would not be possible..
Also Thanks to Jaysg for the attached Schematic

Good Luck with the builds everyone!!

WARNING!!..Before you do the build please make sure you have the latest version of the layout...Good Luck!!

Tony
Hi

The Rock/Jazz switch shows a jumper on the schematic between the two upper throws. The layout shows a jumper between a pole and the opposite throw.

Connection points are missing and can be confused as crossover points especially at the bass pot.
Thanks

I see that one of the ac connections from the relay transformer is connected to the + from the bridge rectifier. Is this correct?

Is it also correct that the 1uf tant cap on the main board is connected to the earth from the preamp out / power amp in?. Does it get its earth connection from the jacks?.

Thanks for the layout, it helps me with my first amp that I'm building.

Hi All,

I am curious about the 312K Bass and 270K Treble pots: These values are strange values to me. Were they measured in-circuit? If so, can we assume they are both 500K?

Thanks,
Lou

270K was 250K and I believe the bass pot was 500K. FWIW, at least with the CTS 30% 250K it's not uncommon to find values in the 270-275K range.

Does anyone know if the OD drive and OD volume pots are the CTS 30%?
The treble pot on the layout is marked 2-35, but the OD pots are not.

No, the OD pots like the treble are the 2-35 pot. FWIW, I've measured quite a few 2-35's and most are closer to 38-40%. Also, the same holds true for 2-35 as I mentioned above about the CTS 30%, not uncommon to find values in the 270+ range.

Thanks again TM.
I never knew the OD pots were 2-35's.
I used PEC 2 watts close to the same original #183 values. I recently noticed that my OD drive pot suddenly really increases volume when the pot is at @ 2 o'clock on the rotation. Making it more difficult to balance clean and OD, for one thing.
I have some Fender 2-35's that are around 280k, so I'm going to get some Deoxit pot lube, clean them and install them in my #183 copy. Maybe I'll gain a little more control and bloom.
The amp seems like it's 85% where I want it to be, maybe this will give me that extra 15% I'm looking for. :D
