There's a schematic in this mess, isn't there? (I'm nowhere near my main PC, so I can't find anything I've saved.)

Thanks much for all the work!!

I find it odd that the Treble control is audio taper, and the bass and mid controls are linear...Backwards from convention methinks.

Hey, what would you say the average build cost is on a Dumble style amp? :)

Now lets see.....

Material cost: the simple answer is cost of materials, which is around 500-1000 USD, depending on component quality, shipping cost and local customs/taxing costs. Which is not even the price of a quality guitar.

Cost of labour
/opportunity cost - if you put a price on your own time spend on sourcing the parts and building the amp, you must factor in 50-100 hours work at an hourly rate of 8.25 USD/Hour (minimum wage) up to 100 USD/Hour (professional)
Minimum wage, calculation:
if you are working at a fast pace, your price will be 8.25*50 = 412.5 USD and 8.25*100 = 825 USD, working at a slow pace
Professional salary, calculation: If you are working at a fast pace, your price will be 100*50 = 5000 USD and 100*100 = 10,000 USD, if you are working at a slow pace

=> Total cost = material (500-1,000) + Labour (415.5-10,000) = 915.4 - 11,000

Therefore, you should only build a Dumble amp if you are a skillfull builder, earning a relatively low wage all other people should much rather buy a Redplate, Bludo, VVT, Glaswerks or Fuchs.... Its much cheaper in the long run.

To Wescaster,

Mt. Vernon, eh?

I had to look that up on a map.

I knew there was a Mt. Vernon Washington.

So your over by John Day?

Love the country around there. :D

Mt.Vernon.. Yep. I think just about every state has a Mt.Vernon. This Mt. Vernon is so small the street lights dim when I get an email  And yes, eight miles from John Day.

I'm building my first amp right now (Weber Vibrolux Reverb kit 6a20 HP)

I'm at the completed stage where you look at it and wonder why it is not working.

Anyway, the Dumble style layout and schematics look easier than what I've been through.
Don't get me wrong, I've been enjoying myself and learning as I go.

Well, you've come to the right place if you run into trouble or just want to chat about amps.

Have fun!
