Dumble Small Special 100 photos (uncensored).
Guys - here's some photos I found in my email.
The photos on Rob's site and other locations are the censored version, where the seller used a photo/drawing app to scratch out the components. He sent me these photos back in 2008 when I asked for them. Hope it helps!!!

Very cool Brent! Thanks for posting that. I blended the two photos into one big one (3.8MB) for anyone interested (I hope that doesn't offend).

Those photos have been around for quite some time (or at least it seemed like a long time) and posted before but good job everyone especially you colossal for combining the photos.

As I mentioned. I couldn't find the non-censored photos so I thought I'd throw them up. Feel free to delete if they exist elsewhere. The seller sent them to me after asking and I'm sure sent them to others. So I wouldn't be surprised if they exist on another post somewhere.M Fowler wrote:Those photos have been around for quite some time (or at least it seemed like a long time) and posted before but good job everyone especially you colossal for combining the photos.

Here are the pictures of this amp posted on Rob Livesey’s site:
http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/s ... ial%20100/
together with this report:
"Mid-Seventies Dumble Small Special 100
This amp is basically a 100 watt Overdrive Special minus the Overdrive. This circuit was also used as a bass amp. It has very full headroom and wonderful sparkly-clean tones. The level control is a second volume inserted later in the circuit (but before the phase inverter), so it allows for subtle adjustments to the gain characteristics of the preamp section. It's not about crunchy overdrive.
The cabinet is not original. It was recently custom-made; blueprinted from a 50 watt Small Special of exactly the same era. It is constructed of 3/4" baltic birch plywood and uses solid aluminum bar stock for the trim.
The rear nameplate is also not original. It was custom fabricated from gold anodized aluminum to match an original, but it does not have the original serial number. The chassis was partially disassembled when found and the rear panel, power chord, and tube shields for V1 & V2 were missing. The bat for the ground switch was also broken off. This switch can still be operated with a small screwdriver, and was left as-is.
Inside the chassis, the 5 power supply filter capacitors, were found to be non-original and were not the right size to fit the board they are mounted on. They were properly replaced with fresh Sprague Atoms of the correct size and value. All other components are original as found, including the electrolytics used for cathode bypass and bias power supply.
Cabinet dimensions: 18 3/4" wide, 10" high, 9 3/4"deep
Chassis dimensions: 17" wide, 3" high (not including tubes & transformers), 8" deep
Tubes: V1 vintage Mullard 12AX7; V2 vintage Sylvania 12AX7; V3-V6 6L6 (new, matched quad) by Tube Amp Doctor
Transformers:
Note, all are Fender OEM iron as used in Twin Reverb, Showman, & Dual Showman.
Power Transformer 022756, 606 2273, CSA 827 (22nd week of 1973)
Output Transformer 022889, 606-3-35 (35th week of 1973)
Choke 022699, 606-3-48 (48th week of 1973)
Potentiometers (date codes range from 1970 to 1973):
Volume 1377014; Treble 137271; Bass 1377227; Level 1377315; Bias Adjust 13771__ (last 2 digits obscured)"
Cheers,
Max

I found them. I guess I didn't search well enough.
We need a definitive collection of pictures. Robs site is good but missing photos that are in circulation.

This is why I asked that editing the Dumble Files section be considered but Tom/Structo alluded that this was unlikely so perhaps there is some aversion to it above the administrator/moderator level.brentm wrote:We need a definitive collection of pictures. I feel like someone put an M80 in an old library card catalog and blew it up in looking at the way archival data is organized on this site. It works for us regulars but leaves a lot to be desired in general. I would be happy to volunteer to put my ideas where my mouth is.

I have my files organized so if you need photos of a certain amp I probably have it.

Re: Dumble Small Special 100 photos (uncensored).
Anyone know of audio samples of a Small Special (or clone)? Or are they so indistinguishable from the clean side of an ODS as to make no difference?
Re: Dumble Small Special 100 photos (uncensored).
If you think you have the MOST DEFINITIVE collection, I'd be happy to host them and make them available....M Fowler wrote:I have my files organized so if you need photos of a certain amp I probably have it.

Right now, Rob's collection is the closest thing and only needs some minor updates (that I can see).
As for the photos that you have, how about a request for all the ones I haven't seen on here or aren't on Rob's page? I don't know how I would request something I didn't know existed yet Or better yet... let's make a definitive collection!!! I do think Rob is as close as I've seen that has been published to the Internets... I would certainly defer to him for he's made the most D-Porn available in one place that I can see.

This is how I feel. Coming from the TW side, it can a bit overwhelming and take a lot of effort to piece things together. The terminology can sometimes sound like a coffee shop order here in Seattle:Colossal wrote: This is why I asked that editing the Dumble Files section be considered but Tom/Structo alluded that this was unlikely so perhaps there is some aversion to it above the administrator/moderator level.

"I'd like third Generation 100 watt with a skyliner tone stack, precision power supply, high plate transitional, hold the LNFB. Wait make that a hybrid classic, no whip, cafe Americana, half decaf, half regular, with room."

It's definitely a convoluted suss with much the knowledge wrapped up in out-of-context topics and a lot of it non-current when you dig deep in the search. Seems to me that a wiki might be useful for archival purposes. I'm pretty sure a media-wiki install can be locked down, though I'd need to investigate a bit further. The down side is that there's a bit of a learning curve to the mechanics of the contribution side of things with a wiki.

Sounds like a good start to a glossary page of terminology.LeftyStrat wrote:This is how I feel. Coming from the TW side, it can a bit overwhelming and take a lot of effort to piece things together.
