#189 50W Bluesmaster(Ripper?) Photos

Post by Charlie Wilson »

Hello,
I started to show some of these photos on Marcus's post but I am sure as his build goes along he is going to want to post photos of his amp, so I am not going to clutter up his thread with these photos. I have not seen photos of a Bluesmaster online before so I hope these are of interest to some folks.

Yeah I like that mid trimmer and it is on a 250kA not a 50k. I also noticed a bright cap on the OD volume and that there is a cap across the bass pot that is not on Tony's layout.

The trimmer in that mid pot location for a BM has been discussed before, I wonder if was it set to around 75K.....CW?

Mike, unfortunately on this one I didn't take any measurements. Yes the Skyliner tonestack crossed my mind but it definitely has a Bluesmaster PI. What the heck is this thing? Not sure how you are supposed to adjust the OD entrance trimmer either.

On further observation, both bass and mid pots appear connected to the trimpot. Curious...

To me it looks like the trimmer on the mid pot is to adjust the resistance for both mid and bass pots to ground, so the higher the value the less effect the pots have?

Yes, that's clearly the case, it's a variable lift. Note also the "jazz cap" usually connected from the R/J switch to ground is going through what is usually the PAB relay, and the common lugs on the R/J switch are joined. Something different going on there for sure.

It's unlikely a molten meteor hit a Dumble, but if you catch that blue-goo throbbing and growing better run.

CW, was this by chance a black suede 1-12 combo with a EV?
