Is this how you did the tonestack and PAB kleinm?

Re: Tweeked D'Lite Schematic
So if I understand this correctly, at least some of the changes (dropping string, swamper resistors, etc.) that kleinm came up with here are designed to get the best out of a D'Lite that runs 6L6's instead of 6V6's. Is that right? Does it matter which OT one has? (I have the 8k Vibro tranny in my build, FWIW...

The 8K vibro type DL OT will work very well with most or all of the suggestions.greiswig wrote:So if I understand this correctly, at least some of the changes that kleinm came up with here are designed to get the best out of a D'Lite that runs 6L6's instead of 6V6's. You don't need to run 6L6's to get great tone, I know some will disagree, but your ears will tell you...
If you try the suggestions in the layout posted, and are not satisfied, try the BM PI in the mix.
Fortunately, there's enough info on the forum for anyone to tweak their d'lite to taste.

Brownnote, you guys came up with a great amp AS IS. I really appreciate it!brownnote wrote:The 8K vibro type DL OT will work very well with most or all of the suggestions.greiswig wrote:So if I understand this correctly, at least some of the changes (dropping string, swamper resistors, etc.) that kleinm came up with here are designed to get the best out of a D'Lite that runs 6L6's instead of 6V6's. Mainly what I'm trying to do here is to learn: kleinm and some others have made some changes to their D'Lites that really made their amp magic to them, and I don't have the know-how to understand why they made them. So I'm trying to figure out whether changes like the dropping string changes and swamper resistors were done because of the change in tubes being run, or because of some other factor? If they weren't done to accommodate 6L6's, it would be really helpful to know what their purpose was, and what the sonic effects of each is expected to be? I know all the pieces have to work together as one, but I like understanding each piece's contribution to the whole.

Thought I would let you know that this layout has the incorrect wiring to the filter board, namely the OT tap and standby wire.brownnote wrote:Hi Mark, question..where are the dropping string values on the schematic coming from?mdroberts1243 wrote:I've tried to capture the consensus of tweeks to the Normster/Brown-Note D'Lite in an updated schematic.
Info comes from the recent posts, including the very detailed report by Kleinm... http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4170 and the discussion that ensued at: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4153
Kudos to all that participated, especially DogEars, Kleinm (thanks for the details in your post) and Normster.
Please let me know if there are any changes required.
Here's a layout using the dropping string referenced in kleinm's post:

What is the purpose/effect of this network? Is it just to decouple the gain stages, or what?brownnote wrote:The pre-OD is a series cap between CL2 and OD1 in this case a .02/.05 with a 10M load to ground.JimiB wrote:Is the pre OD network drawn correctly on this?
Also Klienm stated he was using the Bluesmaster PAB.
you're right...I didn't change the PAB...put that on the list of revisions.

Re: Tweeked D'Lite Schematic
This cap is in series with the existing coupler... so it makes a much smaller cap... limits the bass getting into the OD.greiswig wrote:What is the purpose/effect of this network? I'm thinking that the 10M ground reference should preceed the cap though... to provide a ground reference between the two caps... anybody else think the same?

On my build, the 10M is on the input side of the 0.05uF. You can see it hanging across from the 0.05uF to the ground side on the V1 Rk/Ck combinations.

Re: Tweeked D'Lite Schematic
What wattage rating do I need for the 10M resistor? Mouser has been backordered on 1 watters for a while. I have some 1/4 watt 22M resistors. Can I use 2 of these in parallel?

Re: Tweeked D'Lite Schematic
I don't think the wattage would be critical at all in that location... nor the value... 2x 22M in parallel should be fine.Deric wrote:What wattage rating do I need for the 10M resistor?
