Tweeked D'Lite Schematic

Post by mdroberts1243 »

EDIT: Version 1.2 has 10M ground reference between two coupler caps in pre-OD network.
EDIT: Version 1.1 with annotations, 18k in dropping string and 330pf treble cap. I've noted the component changes from the original D'Lite in a larger text size.

I've tried to capture the consensus of tweeks to the Normster/Brown-Note D'Lite in an updated schematic.

Info comes from the recent posts, including the very detailed report by Kleinm... http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4170 and the discussion that ensued at: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4153

Kudos to all that participated, especially DogEars, Kleinm (thanks for the details in your post) and Normster.

Please let me know if there are any changes required.

I have not tried these myself, just preparing to, so I'll let others chime in, but I think the intentions and some rave reviews are both well documented in the two threads referenced above.

Thanks!

Glad to help where I can... don't know about you guys, but I find it a lot easier to follow the discussions with a referenceable schematic!

Thanks Mark,
I'll chine in here by saying that we've been using many of these tweaks and this particular blend does indeed sound very good, if anyone's on the fence...go for it.

This is great! BTW, I'd humbly recommend increasing the treble cap to 330pF.

Any chance you could put the new values in a different color (red) so that we that are not intimately familiar with this schem could see which ones you are changing?
Thanks

Hi Mark, question..where are the dropping string values on the schematic coming from?

Here's a layout using the dropping string referenced in kleinm's post:

Damn, Moss! You don't mess around! Killer layout, thanks for sharing!

BTW, I think Mark's dropping string was recommended by dogears in a previous thread. He also recommended an alternative one for me to try out. I hope to do so after the holidays.

As a side note, I think its important to note that my PT is the stock Brown Note/Heyboer 320-0-320. With this dropping string, I have 442VDC on the plates of my 6L6s. Next time I have the chassis out, I'll measure all the pertinent voltages and post again.

Thanks Moss!
You da Man! :D

Yes I have the Brown Note PT as well and these values may not be right for that as it starts with a bit lower voltage than some of these other PT's.

I believe mine is 325-0-325 @ 300 ma.

I left the 22k and 2.2k in place as Scott said that's what he is using? Is the 18k what you prefer?

I had it in my markup, must've missed updating it... changes on the way.

The schematic package doesn't have colour  , so I've noted the changed component values in larger text (0.080" vs 0.060") and added a couple of notes.
