New D'Lator in Common garage sale/thrift store Box

Post by heisthl »

This is a Belkin 4 way switch box at 7" x 7" x 3" (5 bucks at the Goodwill!). If you use one, cut a new panel for the back and make an "L" panel for the guts. Perfect size for a Buffered FX loop. This one uses a Fender Stand Alone Reverb power transformer.

Nice clean work. Labeled and ready to sell?

Is the D'lator a series/parallel loop?

Damn son, nice score & even cooler install! I'm of a mind to try something very similar for my Hairbrake container. I might need to add some old school louvers if heat dissipation becomes an issue. Is that an early home computer accessory or the equivalent of a hobbyist's '"BUD box"? Again, you performed an excellent alternative to that sprawling rack mount versh. Granted those rack housings are beefy steel, but in a rack things rarely see any brutality when supported correctly. Do you have a brake for sheet metal? If sheet metal wasn't so damn costly, I could probably afford a brake in the $1K range. But I'd have to start fabbing my own cookie sheets and stuff to justify it's purchase. Now, my Dad on the other hand buys these tools and they rarely if ever get used. He once bought a pink granite leveling surface that had to be 18" thick to assemble cabinets on! Sorry for being so long winded. NG

The D'lator is a series loop and relies on the effect to provide the mix of dry to wet.

I wish I had a metal brake - I have a vice and a hammer.

Thanks Heisthl

I am trying to figure a way to make this loop provide a parallel option.

I have two amps with parallel effects loops and IMO there is nothing better. The amp tones stay completely untainted and there is so much more control over the effects mix.

you could try just adding a pot between send and return jacks to mix in a straight signal but it won't work due to phase shift. So either another inverting stage is needed or you need to "mix" the FX return jack with the input signal (or send signal) at the grid of the recovery stage so both are in the correct phase.

I am so bummed about this ... This got swiped off the door step of my next door condo...mis delivered and then STOLEN!....What a big bummer.

The sad thing is , the person that took it probably doesn't know what it is and dumped it somewhere...
