Robben Ford's Dumble #148

Post by ayan »

OK, I have no idea where I got these from, I didn't take them. Look at the service tag for S/N of one of the amps.

Thanks for posting Gil.
These photos raise some questions .
Is #148 a repackage of RF's green combo?
The cream head a retolexed black head?

#148 was the one in thegreen combo, yes. Prior to that, it lived in the cream head... The amp that's now in the cream head (with the green pilot liht) used to live in the (or perhaps another) black head. :)

If you look back to the late 80s and early 90s, RF used to play a diamond grillcloth head and cab, possibly covered in black suede.

Interesting because I always associated him with a blond head and cab.
Although he says he rents a 4x12 at a lot of venues for the Dumble as well as a couple Twins.

Don't let that smoke out!

Hi ayan. This made me very interesting because I own ODS #147, diamond grillcloth head and cab covered in black suede. Do you have any further info? :D

It would be really helpful if you have any pictures of your amp that you can share, particularly 'gut shots' (inside the amp). That would enable people to tell you how your amp might differ from #148.

Cheers, Paul.

ryo, did you buy this from Bob Stirner? I think he owned 146 and 147. His amps were Music Man tranny, low plate load, Skyliners.

Thanks dogears.
I bought it from dumble amp tech in Japan.
Previous owner is Japanese. I forgot to ask about the history
because I didn't had much knowledge about it yet.
And recently he is out of business :?
I just loved the sound, and bought it :)

It' being re-tubed so I don't have it on my hand right now, but
I think it had old fender tranny. I'll check it when it returns :D
BTW it's with EL34.
I'd love to post pics but I don't have camera now :(

BTW it's the same one on this page, 10th from top row, the one with dumblator.
I don't have dumblator though.
