Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
Tony updated the layout once or twice and fixed most if not all of the errors as identified in the thread above. Ratio/Level is ok, the B+ 4-5 is updated, (slightly off at the ground side of the cap, but easy to figure out). R/J switch is the same, FX loop is the same.
I do not think it's a good idea to have anonymously edited versions of the layout floating around.

There is nothing wrong with that layout.
Tony asked me to edit some things on it when he was busy.
Some things were not clear such as the OD pot labeling, some grounding, the OD, PAB Switch grounding, the FX Loop network and feedback loop ground.
Tony may have used one of my updates for his latest version.
But this last one is one I made for myself from the Visio file.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the JAzz/Rock switch wired to engage the PAB?

Use a center "off" (on-off-on) switch. That is all you need.jlatrace wrote:Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the JAzz/Rock switch wired to engage the PAB?

Hey all! Just found this site and think I'm going to be addicted very fast Can anyone tell me how many watts this #124 is? Also, (possibly ignorant question) is this meant to be made as a "head" or a combo style? Does it not even matter? I'm trying to get educated about this subject...

It's a 100W head that can be switched to 50W but it can be a combo if you make a different combo shell for it. The outer shell has nothing to do with the chassis you use to build the amp in.Strodden wrote:Hey all! Since most of us like a colder bias on the ODS style amps, it probably isn't a full 100w and who plays full out anymore anyway?
But they are indeed loud and sound great at just about any volume.

Does it make different tonewise having the bright cap as silver mica instead of ceramic?

Ceramic may sound a bit grainy and possibly can be heard as harsh... Silver mica might sound clearer. Neither are bad and in some instances you may not be able to detect a difference. Try it for yourself and hear.

On the tonestack Im in doubt between keeping the middle cap .01uf with 150k slope or having it at .047uf with 100k slope (both with the 250ka pot)Structo wrote:Here is a #124 layout that I have adjusted over time to reflect what has been discussed before.
I've done some simulations on the duncan tonestack but was curious for opinions
Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
Wow, how do you simulations on that tone stack calculator? Did the Dumble tonestack get added?
