1) sometimes there are assumptions made counting on the experience of the tech building the amp.
In this case, it is generally accepted that you connect the shield of a coax cable at the source of the signal end only. The other end has the shield trimmed back and a piece of heat shrink tubing is put on it to insulate it.
Then the center conductor is soldered to the destination.
2) In reality, you only need one B+ power source to the pedal to power the LED's.
Especially if you plan on using a three switch pedal.
See attached.

thanks. That's how I wired it! *pfew*Structo wrote:1) sometimes there are assumptions made counting on the experience of the tech building the amp.

thanks again Struco. Man if you weren't here... you've already answered so many of my questions. Thanks!!

Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
This may sound stupid, but I will post it anyway...
I wondering if the presence is wired different than described in the schematic.
If you look at the + sign on the presence cap on the picture, it points towards ground..
Could it be that the cap is actually in series with the 390ohm, and the presence shorts both to ground? In that way, you would gain less highs and more bass when the presence is closer to zero ohm.
Just a thought...
The example is from my Bolt60 amp.

Seems as if there was a discussion about that before.
I don't recall the outcome but I think it was decided that it didn't matter on that cap.

The cap is definitely backwards. There is about 0.7V DC on it, peak with signal maybe a volt or so. Not much, but I've always heard that tantalum electrolytics do not like to see reversed polarity.

I can confirm this firsthandmartin manning wrote: tantalum electrolytics do not like to see reversed polarity.

That's a interesting thought. However; what do you think of the extra wire visible on the eyelet soldering point(connecting the 390R and tant cap, it suggests that there actually is the wiring of the presence pot.Arne Marius Kirkaune wrote:This may sound stupid, but I will post it anyway...

That would be the ground wire that goes to the loop jacks.

Can someone post the latest (most accurate) layout and schem of 124? I need to save these!!!

Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
AFAIK the first post in this thread has them.
Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
You sure, I don't think so.
Re: A Collection of #124 Information (Schematics, Layout, etc.)
Here is a #124 layout that I have adjusted over time to reflect what has been discussed before.

Other than the added ground for the PAB switch (not on HAD #124 and so noted on your version), and the slightly wonky connection to the ground of the last power supply filter what's different?Structo wrote:Here is a #124 layout that I have adjusted over time to reflect what has been discussed before.

B+4/B+5 wiring
Something about RJ switch
FX loop too I believe
