This has probably been discussed before but I don't remember.
What is the small board with the orange drop on it right below the bass pot?

I put it in the schematic just before the 'ratio' control.

Not that it really matters, but I confirmed with Larry that he NEVER owned this amp. It is still REALLY cool!

Well....
I know Gregor, and he's a great guy. In his defense, his ad never said "Carlton owned it..". He simply stated that it had LC's signature inside, for whatever reason it was there, we'll likely never know.
That seems to be a common thing with Dumlbes, mentioning a famous person owned it etc. I've had only one customer who ever had actual paperwork to prove an amp was owned by a famous player. Lots of talk or speculation, but backed with little proof usually.

Re: Inside-pictures of Larry Carltons ODS
I'm not saying anything about Gregor, I'm sure he's a fine fellow . I am simply saying that I confirmed with Larry Carlton that he never owned this amp, nor did he own the 4x 6v6 amp on the treasures of equippment page.
The title of this thread is "Inside-pictures of Larry Carltons ODS" which is a misnomer as this was never owned by LC. Furthermore, that's not LC's signature, his name is simply written in there, who knows why?

The main reason I asked, was because the amp has a distinct dumble sound, no? Well documented online. Worth knowing if doable. Whether or not LC or anyone else owned it is but fluff.

I`d love to see you get THAT tone outa ANY STOCK schematic on this forum!! In the Navy we could weld the crack of dawn, but when it comes to these ampsbutwhatif wrote:The main reason I asked, was because the amp has a distinct dumble sound, no? Well documented online. Re: Inside-pictures of Larry Carltons ODS
I don't think anyone gets an amp's sound out of another amp's schematic, witness all the copies made commercially by several manufacturers that never arrived. And who wants someone else's personal sound? That ain't original music. But it's interesting to know what schematic delivered a certain sound-especially when there were sooo many samples of this amp online.
The last ( well known) signature amp i modded was an hi $ dead on copy of an old ODS schematic, but it didn't come even close to an ODS sound when it came in the door. Amazing how a few modifications of that scheme made it
produce. To me this whole forum has been about how to achieve a sound like it's coming thru the originals, with what have been only the starting blocks in terms of the schematic.
