I ran out of aluminum standoffs, so I fab'd some from 3/8 aluminum round stock.
I used a hack saw, hand drill, and a 8-32 thread tap. A drill press and vise is better, but .......
The round stock came from either Home Depot or Tractor Supply, can't remember.
The only oil I had on hand was from a pet groomer thing, worked fine for
drill and tap. The only issue I had was centering the hole's, which I didn't
work too hard at, but planning ahead for the errors with a little added wiggle
room paid off.
Its nice to use the right parts, but with the economy the way it is one can
never trust where basic parts are from, or quality, or even if you can afford
them in the first place...... Make your own.
