Was a bit confused with the handdrawn schems ive seen, he symbols across the board are for bipolars. Found some chassis pics, and sure enough looks to be an elytic on the presence pot.
Im gonna try this out on my express, see what happens..
These values usually come only as e-lytics.

[quote="rhinson"]i've built several naylor sd60 type amps. (both the pre 96 and post 96 circuits). i have a few transformer sets to build these if anyone here is interested. i like the pre 96 circuit a lot, but both are good. i also add a a switch for an extra parallel treble cap for more upper mids if needed. the presence circuit is unique and is really cool. rh[/quote

Hey brother,
I'm very interested in this amp- one of the best I've ever heard! Are you offering to build the amp or sell the transformer set?
How difficult was the build with the available schematic information?
Thanks

I'm late to the party. Do you use logs or linear on the pots? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi Andrew
here's a link to a build from a little while back
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0
IIRC I used all log(audio) pots except Mid and Pres pots.

The Naylor SuperDrive 60 is one of my favorite amps I have ever played. I need to get around to building one of these, or maybe getting someone to build me one.

Not on any pics i have. And not on the schematic. For good reason. Theyre hiss generators in higher gain.

that's the post '96 version. the pre '96 version does not have grid stoppers. it connects the sheild to the plate and and makes use of the multipling factor of the miller capacitance to get a pretty decent top end roll off on the first stage. rh

Hi Rhinson,

What values do you recommend on the grid stoppers?

Thanks I thought the later ones didn't have the dual pot. I understand this amp went through quite a few revisions
Here is a link to the pics I been looking at http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=849461
I'd be open to viewing any other pics anyone has

given that there's a 100pf rolloff cap on the input, you probably don't need any----just have to try to taste and see what makes sense for you in combo with the cap. i'd do maybe 10k -33k and see if you like it better with or without them. but the post 96 are brighter than the pre 96, so maybe you'd like the combo of the two. rh

Thanks Rhinson, I just finished my build. Popped in a variety of power tubes in order to fine tune the tone to my taste. I settled on the 5188s. Now just taking tips from guys like yourself on various tweaks. What caps do you prefer to use? The yellow box polyester Xicons are hard to find. I used orange drops and some old EL Mencos. What wire do you recommend? Solid core or stranded?

Thanks Decko.
