Tube-electronics-to-guitar-amp conversion

Post by SuperSecretSound »

H e y N o w .

I just got my hands on a complete set of tube electronics from a Hammond organ: Can anyone suggest a pro builder (not a hobbyist) that can do a conversion for a quirky guitar amp project? I am looking in the PA, NJ, DE, MD area(s).

(I used to always use John Martin from Philadelphia - who was an absolute ace for these crazy projects - until his sudden, untimely passing.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Several of TAG members are very capable. Not sure which ones may live near you.
If not...I would say Andy Fuchs of .....Fuchs Amplification.
Well.....I guess Andy is a member also. :)

This COULD get rather expensive.
good luck

Not in your area and certainly wouldn't want the gig anyway--but why are you ruling out "hobbyists"? There are a number of hobbyists, especially on this board, I'd trust over most (not all) so called pros. Especially for something like a one-off oddball conversion project.

Wow... some penetrating insight here.

I love the guy that announces that he doesn't live in the area(s) I've mentioned, recuses himself of "want(ing) the gig anyway" but then acts on his compulsion to have the prototypical (maybe, circa 2005) chat board semantics debate over my use of a particular word. (In this case: "hobbyists".) Only then to use that as a springboard to announce to the world (aka: the 5 people reading) their irrepressible logic that he would trust a "hobbyist" over "a pro" for a "one-off oddball conversion project".

Yet never manages to bring one cogent item to the table... you know... like an actual recommendation of any sort.

I guess since I'm a first-time poster I'll get treated with the typical amount of self-aggrandizing commentaries like the one above if only due to the narrow mindedness of the commenter(s): Assuming that I'm sitting in my parents basement playing a Squire thru a Gorilla.

This isn't a dick-measuring contest and I don't need to list my achievements, depth and breadth of gear-collection or yearly salary to make my simple inquiry on this board. I'm wanting to look outside my (formerly) regular circle for new kicks, what with my former amp Sherpa crossing over to that great test bench in the sky.

Hey Matt H: You're a dick and your comment is worthless. That's probably a running theme with you.

"C Moore": Thank you for the thought. I already have a few Fuchs and several other Dumble types by other builders so, for me, Andy would be out for that reason alone. I'm looking to turn this into something a little more mutant and/or original. But, again, thanks.

Moderators...

Can we do something about these idiots like this guy?
I think his real name is Richard Cranium. It seems as if we have seen him on other forums.

OP, you have sadly misinterpreted the willingness of two of our members to help you, with some preconceived notion of how people act on a "chat board," calling them schoolhouse names ("dick"), and revealing to all the nature of your character by way of introduction to our community.

Good day, sir.

Hey sss. You opened the door, I'll walk through it. You're a dick. You mention that you need a pro for a quirky amp project using a Hammond. What are the quirks? Oh yeah, you didn't bother to tell anyone - douchebag. If you weren't such a lazy fuck, you would have read all the posts regarding Hammond builds and realized you could easily do it yourself and that the experts here would have guided you through it. But now it's too late for that. And you would have known that the guys you are insulting gave you good information. Besides, guys like you that need instant gratification never get anything built anyhow. GTFO.

Oh yeah, I'm getting popcorn and pullin up a chair for this one.

Lots of ad hominem attacks... no suggestions other than the first polite response.

Oh well... sorry I can't be part of the scary cyber social club.
Adios.
